Duke of Mantua
Kömische Oper, Berlin

With remarkable intensity of acting, Jeffrey Stewart makes this new interpretation his own and in so doing employs his tenor voice equally intelligently and effectively.

Review for Nadir
Bizet’s Pearlfishers

…(his voice) worked splendidly with the searching tenor tone of Jeffrey Stewart as Nadir, who was outstanding in the aria Je Crois Entendre Encore.

Jeff Stewart | Conductor

Jeff Stewart began conducting when he took over the choir of Holy Trinity Church, Bledlow in 2003. At that time there were just 8 members. However, it was the ideal place for him to cut his teeth as a choir trainer and conductor. despite the fact that Bledlow is a tiny village in the Chilterns, word about this choir quickly spread and the membership quickly increased to it’s current level of about 40 members.

The quality of the choir is quite remarkable for any church choir, let alone a village church choir. They have sung many services as replacements for Cathedral choirs including services in Christchurch Cathedral, Oxford, Norwich, Birmingham, Wells, Salisbury, Lincoln and Peterborough cathedrals, as well as, most recently, Southwell and York Minsters.

In 2009 Jeff was appointed as Musical director of Uxbridge Choral Society. He has already performed several very ambitious programmes with them, including a full scale Messiah and the world amateur premiere of Sir John Tavener’s Lament For Jerusalem.

In 2011, Jeff founded his own company, Choral Holidays, which takes groups of amateur singers to beautiful and interesting locations and forms them into choirs which give a performance at the end of the holiday. This led to wonderful events at Milton Abbey, the Battistro in Pisa and Santa Croce in Florence.

Jeff also gives workshops as a guest conductor and was recently invited to become the deputy conductor of Princes Risborough Music Society, for whom he recently conducted his first concert.
